The brief was to create a product that allows children to cut food.
There are knives for kids on the market but they don’t cut well, so the child has to provide more strength and this is where accidents can happen. I worked mainly by observing children cooking to arrive at an ergonomic object really suited to them. The notion of safety perceived by the child and the parent is also a very important bias for understanding the knife.
Numerous surveys, user tests and prototypes (models, 3D printing) were carried out to produce this product which has a great international success.
The Chef’s Knife For Kids is a kit that allows children to cut all foods safely thanks to a specially designed blade that avoids the risk of cuts.
The knife is equipped with a secure handle inspired by the grip of a pair of scissors, as well as a rounded stainless steel blade and a blade guard. It comes with a finger guard that secures the hand holding the food and teaches the child the same cutting technique used by professional chefs.
